Penetron Specialty Products “Fail Safe” Program Ensures Seamless Performance

A flooring industry first, the “Fail Safe” program is an installation quality assurance system designed by PENETRON Specialty Products that assists owners, contractors, floor preparation and flooring installers to correctly and efficiently install the company’s self-leveling underlayment and vapor emissions mitigation products.

PSP Fail Safe Kit

“Our Fail Safe program is a systematic approach to floor preparation for commercial and residential construction projects,” explains Robert Revera, President of PENETRON Specialty Products (PSP). “The program is designed to promote proper installation techniques and ensure product mixing and use instructions are adhered to so failures can be prevented.”

Already a recognized flooring technology innovator, the customer support team at PSP turned its attention to the practicality of maximizing installation success to come up with the “Fail Safe” program. The “Fail Safe” kit includes:

  • Easy-to-follow installation guidelines
  • Flow test meter to measure the flooring material viscosity
  • Camera to record the exact materials used

For self-leveling underlayments and vapor emissions mitigation:

The “Fail Safe” program provides a reassuring quality control instrument for the architect, general contractor and floor installer. PSP trains contractor teams how to correctly apply the “Fail Safe” guidelines to ensure the resulting floor underlayment meets and exceeds acceptable standards.

For vapor emissions mitigation installations, the Fail Safe” program prescribes a defined grid of snapped chalk lines to help accurately measure the correct floor coverage rates. This ensures every installation will meet the required protection specifications.

“A faulty floor installation can be a financial disaster if the floor preparation and subsequent flooring does not meet specifications and needs to be ripped out after the fact,” adds Revera. “Ensuring the correct procedures are observed greatly increases the probability of a problem-free installation.”

Unique in the industry

PSP is the only manufacturer that offers this quality assurance program. Project stakeholders – from owner and architect to general contractor and the flooring team—all benefit from the “Fail Safe” reporting system. The PSP customer support team sees the greatest benefit in being able to catch any possible preparation/installation mistakes early in the installation phase – and correcting them before any damage is done.
